Drive: 60km
22-37 degC, another stinker!
After a quick coffee it was onto the bikes to get a ride in before leaving for Corowa. We were going to try and make it to Bonegilla and back, however, due to not knowing exactly where the bike paths were, we wasted time, and were only able to get two thirds of the way there. Oh well, it was a 24km ride anyway. Nice on the way home – downhill with a tail wind!
Had breakfast then packed up and left just before 10am. We only had 60km to go today (cycling distance!) so took our time and stopped in Howlong for mornos. Not long after, we were in Corowa and checked in to the Corowa Caravan Park (site #105) just before lunch. Had an LLD after lunch, but it was so hot we began to stew in our own sweat! Greg found it was cooler to sit under the camp kitchen shelter and as we are parked directly adjacent to it, it wasn’t a big move and it was definitely cooler – when the breeze blew!
Greg decided he’d had enough of sitting around reading, so off we went for a ride into Corowa to have a look around. 5km later we were back and the ride was not as bad (read “hot”) as Wendy thought it would be. A little more relaxation before dinner – smashed orange vege, steamed greens, and turmeric-soy sauce chicken breast. The plethora of young families surrounding us decided to arc up at dinner time, so after eating under the camp kitchen shelter, we retreated to the van, closed the windows and turned on the aircon. Soon after, we heard the pitter-patter of rain on the roof, so hopefully that put a dampener on the adults parting for the night. Only time will tell. If it is anything like the night we had at Apollo Bay with Gunther and Yvonne, we shall be saying something to management in the morrow.
As an
aside, our next-door neighbour is a QLD’er and Greg got to talking to him this
afternoon, and guess where they are from – Yep, Hervey Bay!!!! How small is Australia?
