After a cooked breakfast we set off on our bike ride. We went south first, just to see where the bike path would take us; nowhere really. It was then back into town for mornos and then to find where the Australia Day celebrations were to be held. We found the place, listened to the local choir sing a few songs, and then some of the presentations. The guest speaker was Ron Delezio, whose daughter Sophie was trapped under a car that crashed into the day care centre she was at. She suffered burns to 85% of her body and lost both feet, one hand, and her right ear. Ron described the pain, fear and depression he experienced from that incident and how he overcame it all. Next were the recipients of the local awards; as we knew no one in the region, it did not mean a lot to us so we left.
We crossed the river into Victoria and did a small ride along the river and back through Wahgunyah to Corowa and back to the van. On our ride on the other side of the river, Greg had spied some nicely ripe figs at an abandoned nursery and just had to go back for them. So, after getting his back pack and containers, he rode back and picked some lovely figs and peaches. It was then time for lunch and an LLD.
As it was still quite tropical, the afternoon was spent reading and wandering the camp sites. Dinner was homemade pizza. After dinner we strolled to the waterfront and watched a man race his RC speed boat up and down the river, and he was pretty good and the boat was amazing.
Tonight,
we have two groups trying to outdo each other with their music. We thought that by 10pm, they will settle
down, however, that is only five minutes away and it seems the music is only
betting louder!!! Why is it that when people come to an open plan campsite they
decide to behave like idiots??
