21-34 degC, a little cooler
After breakfast, we rode into Albury along the Murray River. What a change from riding in Canberra and Batemans Bay – not so lumpy!! The weather was also kinder to us today in that it was not too hot. We could have ridden further/longer, however, Wendy had arranged to meet an old Army nursing colleague for mornos in Wodonga, so we had to be back for that. Bob and Wendy served together at the Ist Military Hospital at Yeronga in Brisbane. The site is now home to some very high-end homes. The Officers Mess – Rhyndarra House was heritage listed, so it remains and has been restored and looked pretty flash last time we saw it.
We left Bob just after 11:30 am and after a cool down, had lunch, then an LLD. Shopping was next on the agenda, so off we went back into Wodonga. Had a wander around the streets, then shopped, then came home. Further relaxation was had and then it was time for dinner.
We
met Steve (Wendy’s old boss, and later a work colleague) and Sally (Steve’s
wife) in town at Lees Corner Restaurant for a Chinese meal. Steve bought the
wine, we paid for the meal, and a fine night was had by all.
