It was Winery tour day today. We started with Pfeiffer Wines which is in a very picturesque location. Wendy liked one wine – a Chardonnay Marsanne and sort of liked another – Pfeiffer Gamay (a very dry Rose). Morning tea was had in Rutherglen, before heading out to Greg’s favourite winery – Campbells. Although Greg didn’t try anything, Wendy tried another two wines – a Riesling and a “bitsa”; both were nice and will be ordered on line when we get home. Stanton & Killeen winery was another 100m down the road where Wendy tried another three wines – Riesling, Rose and a Tempranillo. The first two were good, whilst the third was a bit tasteless. Some may be purchased on line upon our return.
We were both a little peckish by this stage, so went back into Rutherglen for lunch at the Bakery; a focaccia for both of us and they went down quite nicely. Back on the bikes for the 10km back home. A cool down, an LLD then grocery shopping at the local Woolies. Another rest under the camp kitchen shelter as it was cooler before riding into town (2.5km) for dinner at the Newmarket Hotel Corowa. Our next-door neighbour from yesterday told us about this place as it served good old-fashioned lambs fry and bacon – one of Greg’s all-time favourites. Wendy had the fettucine carbonara and it was GOOOOOD, as was Greg’s dish.
Cycled
home slowly after two ciders for Wendy and one for Greg. We got home to a very
quiet park – management must have warned them with their lives as Greg had made
a complaint as we left for dinner. Tomorrow we head further south.
