11-32 degC, warmest it’s been for a few days
We went for a big long ride today, well not that long – only 55km, but that includes a walk around the Australian War Memorial. We visited the tomb of the unknown soldier, the new exhibition on the Special Forces, and got to step onto the real Bridge of the HMAS Brisbane. The AWM is always a special place to visit. The ride took us around Lake Burley Griffin which is always nice as well. It was a bit windy this morning, so the water was a bit choppy.
Lunch was had in a café in Civic – Canberra City. We both had the Aussie Burger and it was ginormous – two beef patties (real home-made type ones) with lots of salad-y stuff on a huge bun and a mountain of chips next to it. Gave us the energy to get back home as it was all uphill! It had also warmed up a bit, with very low humidity. Being Queenslanders, we are used to the heat, just not so much the dryness.
Had
an LLD then did admin until dinner time – boerewors (South African sausage) and
sadza (maize meal made into a very stodgy porridge) – yummo.
